Every year the 3rd class get to invite their amazing grandparents to the school to celebrate Grandparents day during catholic schools week. Grandparents leave a legacy like no other, as they help to keep family traditions alive and are the foundation of every family.
The relationship between a grandparent and their grandchildren is a special one and one to be cherished, one that is usually removed of discipline and rules and filled with love, fun and support.
Grandparents have a very important role to play in the lives of their grandchildren. Their role is to nourish their grandchild’s personality and to ground them with a sense of who they are and where they came from. To be there for them, when they need them. Grandparents are there to help build grandchildren’s self-belief and confidence, by giving them unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, comfort, and teaching them life lessons. This is why we in Scoil Mhuire love to celebrate this day each year with songs, prayer poems and a lovely cup of tea and cake.
